Sense of Colour

"Sense of Colour" reveals the scientific mysteries of perfume. By developing medium format film negatives in 8 different perfumes for men, I create images without using a camera or exposing the negatives to light. I've chosen perfumes with a colour mentioned in their marketing name and found out they appear in a different colour. By anatomising the material, hidden ingredients are revealed. I display images that may not be images after all. Perfume eludes the visual because it can only be experienced as scent. At the Charles Nypels Lab, Jan van Eyck Academie, I researched how to translate one to another.
